38 weeks | Baby 2.0

What's new?
Miss Emerson's organs are mature and prepared for the outside world.
She should weigh over 6.5 pounds.
Her movement is slowing down (which led to a short trip to L&D this week), but that's just because she's simply running out of room in there!

One of the outtakes from this week's photoshoot.

| my girls |

How far along? 38 weeks

Baby's size? pumpkin -- about 19.5 inches in length

Total weight gain: 31 pounds

Maternity clothes? Yep! Just about all of my outfits these days are maternity.

Sleep: I'm back to waking up way too often. I've accepted it. Basically, I won't sleep through the night again for at least another year.

Best moments this past week: Thanksgiving was so great! Lots of yummy food and quality time with family. We also bought a new car (2013 GMC Terrain SLT) and I went black Friday shopping with my mom, both of which unimpressed my 9 month pregnant body.

Miss Anything? Sushi and wine, still...

Movement: I still feel her movements every day, but they're not as often or powerful. This of course made me panic and my OB sent me into labor and delivery for a non stress test (NST) on Tuesday. She thankfully passed no problem!

Anything making you queasy or sick: nope

Labor Signs: The NST picked up on some contractions, but I apparently wasn't feeling them! I do tend to feel painful ones at night though. My OB also started checking for progress and I'm only 1cm so far, which really means nothing. I was 3cm and 100% for several weeks before I went into labor with Ellie! The numbers are such a mind game, never fails.

Gender: girl

Symptoms: Nothing new!

Belly Button in or out? out

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Super happy! :)

Looking forward to: Meeting baby girl! I can't believe we're down to the final two weeks.

The OCD in me knows this is off centered, but in my defense I thought Ellie and I would be taking up more space on the right. Whatev.. love this photo! :)

37 weeks | Baby 2.0

What's new?
Miss Emerson is still not full term.
Did ya know.. babies are no longer considered full term until 39 weeks?
Yeah.. me either.
Instead, she'll spend the next couple weeks allowing her brain and lungs to fully mature.
She likely has a full head of hair.
She should weigh about 6 1/3 pounds and continues to gain about a .5 ounce each day.
She's still SUPER active and enjoys kicking (or punching?) me in the ribs all day long!

How far along? 37 weeks

Baby's size? winter melon -- over 19 inches in length

Total weight gain: still 30 pounds

Maternity clothes? Yep! Just about all of my outfits these days are maternity.

Sleep: I'm back to waking up way too often. I've accepted it. Basically, I won't sleep through the night again for at least another year.

Best moments this past week: This weekend has been amazing! My mom took Ellie for the weekend and though we've missed her terribly, it was nice to have a free weekend that allowed us to finish preparing for baby girl, get a couple last date nights in, and to just soak up some quality alone time before our world gets crazy with two under two!

Miss Anything? Sushi and wine, still...

Movement: All.day.long.

Anything making you queasy or sick: nope

Labor Signs: I'm beginning to get more and more BH contractions. My OB insists she's head down (I'm still not convinced) and he'll begin checking for progress at my appointment this week.

Gender: girl

Symptoms: Nothing new, but I'm officially more uncomfortable than comfortable these days. It's basically hard to do everything and I'm having a difficult time catching my breath even when I'm doing absolutely nothing. Juuuust in case this is my last pregnancy, I'm trying not too complain too much and enjoy these final weeks with my baby in utero.

Belly Button in or out? out

Happy or Moody most of the time: Super happy! :)

Looking forward to: Picking up my sweet baby girl that I've missed SO much the past 48 hours. And let's be honest... I'm already salivating over all the delicious food we'll be eating for Thanksgiving!

36 weeks | Baby 2.0

Pregnancy Brain.
The struggle is real, folks.

I wrote this post yesterday. Failed to press publish.
Last week I lost my phone. Found it in the fridge.
I was paying for a few groceries at the store the other day. I forgot my debit pin and literally needed to call my husband to remind me.
For MY pin number. That I've had for years!
Don't ask why I just didn't do credit because that would require an answer from someone that doesn't have pregnancy brain.
I can't remember if I've fed the dogs and end up double feeding them.
I wash my hair twice in the shower.
Last month I threw my phone away in our garbage can outside.
I can't remember the names of simple things -- people, places, things.

I wish I could say it will go away in a few weeks. But, no. It doesn't.
Because then it goes from pregnancy brain to baby brain, which is even worse!
Mama friends, can I get an amen?

Anyway, now onto my bumpdate. The one that I wrote...yesterday.

What's new?
Miss Emerson is losing the downy hair and creamy substance that protects her skin in the womb.
But don't be alarmed!
We'll see this again in the form of black tar (aka meconium) during her first couple diaper changes.
She should weigh about 6 pounds.
However, my OB said I'm measuring a bit small and that he expects her to be on the smaller side. We shall see!

How far along? 36 weeks

Baby's size? a watermelon..sort of {Pregnancy brain example #371: I'm a few weeks ahead of myself. Watermelon is week 39. I almost redid my board, but ain't nobody got time for that. So, we'll go with a small watermelon, specifically one that's at least 18.5 inches in length.}

Total weight gain: 30 pounds :(

Maternity clothes? Yep! Just about all of my outfits these days are maternity.

Sleep: I'm back to waking up way too often. I've accepted it. Basically, I won't sleep through the night again for at least another year.

Best moments this past week: My bestie had her baby on Monday and getting to spend a couple days with her this week was so great. She's absolutely beautiful!!! Those that know me know how anxious I've been about bringing a second baby home, but as of recently, I'm really starting to feel so much more at ease, calm, and prepared. Getting to spend time with sweet baby Olivia only relaxes me so much more. Plus, I've LOVED seeing my friend become a Mama. It's such a special thing to witness and be a part of. Honorary auntie isn't such a bad title either. ;)

Miss Anything? Sushi and wine. Though it will be a while before I have any of the latter, sushi will be my first meal post hospital.

Movement: All.day.long.

Anything making you queasy or sick: nope

Labor Signs: I'm still getting pretty frequent BH contractions.

Gender: girl

Symptoms: nothing new

Belly Button in or out? out

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Super happy! :)

Looking forward to: Our little babymoon next weekend. Technically, we're not going anywhere. However, my mom is taking Ellie for the weekend so we can have one final weekend to relax, prepare, get a couple date nights in, sleep in (yeah right!), and just enjoy the calm before what's sure to be the craziest next few months of our lives.

35 weeks | Baby 2.0

What's new?
Miss Emerson's hearing is fully developed.
Her kidneys are also fully developed.
Most of her physical development is complete, she's simply putting on weight from here on out.
She should weigh about 5.5 pounds.
I'll likely continue to gain about a pound a week and half of it goes directly to baby!

How far along? 35 weeks (as of Saturday)

Baby's size? a coconut - over 18 inches in length

Total weight gain: 29 pounds

Maternity clothes? Yep! Just about all of my outfits these days are maternity.

Sleep: I'm back to waking up way too often. I've accepted it. Basically, I won't sleep through the night again for at least another year.

Best moments this past week: There were many, but date night with one of my besties last night what exactly what we both needed. The next time I see her will be in the hospital with her newborn, can't wait!

Miss Anything? Sleeping normally.

Movement: All.day.long.

Anything making you queasy or sick: nope

Labor Signs: I'm still getting pretty frequent BH contractions. My OB will probably start checking my progress within the next week or two, although..let's be honest, it means nothing. I learned that the hard way with Ellie! In all seriousness though, I really don't think I'm going to make it to 40 weeks given my crazy contractions and this toddler that keeps me so active and on the go alldaylongeverysingledayofmylife.

Gender: girl

Symptoms: nothing new

Belly Button in or out? out

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy....and anxious!

Looking forward to: Emerson's bff is due next week and we're all (Mama especially!) eagerly waiting for her arrival.

35 weeks

I swear I only gained 2 pounds this week, despite my extra 10 pound shadow friend you see here.

Help a mama out, will ya?! ;)

34 weeks | Baby 2.0

What's new?
Miss Emerson's fat layers are rounding out, smoothing out her skin, and preparing to regulate her body temperature after she's born.
Her lungs are continuing to mature.
She pees about a pint a day. I know you were dying to know this.
She should weigh about 5 pounds.
I'll likely continue to gain about a pound a week and half of it goes directly to baby!

How far along? 34 weeks

Baby's size? a butternut squash - about 18 inches in length

Total weight gain: 27 pounds

Maternity clothes? Yep! Just about all of my outfits these days are maternity.

Sleep: I'm down to waking up only once or twice a night, which is so great. But getting and staying comfortable it still a challenge.

Best moments this past week: The diaper sprinkle my mom hosted for us this morning was amazing! It was fun having so many people we love in the same place eating yummy food and celebrating our sweet girl. :)

Miss Anything? Mimosas! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of all the guests at our sprinkle enjoying them this morning!

Movement: All.day.long.

Anything making you queasy or sick: nope

Labor Signs: I'm still getting pretty frequent BH contractions most nights, which I've learned to accept. They're clearly not going away until I have this baby.

Gender: girl

Symptoms: Nothing new, but the nighttime has sure become a challenge. I feel amazing pregnancy wise during the day, but by night it's like a completely different body has taken over. I struggle with contractions, pelvic pain, shortness of breath, and acid reflux.

Belly Button in or out? out

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: My crazy hormonal emotions have simmered, which I'm sure everyone around me is happy to hear!

Looking forward to: Date night with JP tonight! Let's hope my symptoms stay at bay.
