Emerson's Nursery

It didn't take long for me to decide I wanted a purple and gold nursery once we found out we were having another girl. While I love Ellie's classic pink girly nursery {here}, I wanted something different. I had a million ideas in my head and it was fun bringing them to life.

Finally, here it is.
And it's exactly what I wanted. We're in love!

Sweet Baby Emerson's Nursery

Finding the perfect bedding seriously gave me heart palpitations.
I'm sure being the most indecisive person on the planet didn't help either.

I used a can of spray paint and letters to DIY Emerson's name.
The canvas nursery art might be my favorite pieces.
I'll Eat You Up I Love You So
Hello Sweet Beautiful Girl

The chair is actually a plum purple, despite the brown depicted with the light.
My mom made gorgeous purple curtains that I LOVED, but unfortunately, they didn't go well with the lavender walls and plum chair. Though they're not my favorite, these backup curtains match the rocker perfectly.

I'm obsessed with Em's closet. The right side has built in shelves and drawers.

I knew I wanted a tissue garland, but refused to pay Etsy prices, so I decided to DIY. It took longer than I expected, but it was super simple and cheap! The frames came from various places and currently house digital art that JP created, but most will be replaced with actual photos.

I'm obsessed with the collage wall! Again, JP created the temporary digital art in most of the frames. Though some were thrifted, most of the frames came from Hobby Lobby.

I knew I wanted stripes in this room, regardless of having a girl or boy. They were definitely more challenging than we anticipated, but I love how this wall turned out!

33 weeks | Baby 2.0

What's new?
Miss Emerson keeps her eyes open during her awake times.
She weighs over 4 pounds and her bones are hardening.
She's learning how to breath with sucking and swallowing.
I'll likely continue to gain about a pound a week and half of it goes directly to baby!

How far along? 33 weeks (on Saturday)

Baby's size? a durian fruit (huh?!) - over 17 inches in length

Total weight gain: 26 pounds

Maternity clothes? Yep! Just about all of my outfits these days are maternity.

Sleep: It hasn't been going well for a while, so that's not new. Though Ellie apparently doesn't like to sleep anymore either. She's had a rough few days/nights in the sleep department.

Best moments this past week: TBD

Miss Anything? Sushi. Wine. Alllllll the wine.

Movement: All.day.long.

Anything making you queasy or sick: nope

Labor Signs: My BH have been coming around a lot more lately, especially at night. Fun!

Gender: girl

Symptoms: Nothing new!

Belly Button in or out? out

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: This week has been better, but oh my gosh.. I'm seriously just so emotional. Let's be honest, I'm always an emotional person, even more so after Ellie... but this baby is taking it to a whole new level!

Looking forward to: Spending time with our family and close friends at the diaper bash my mom is hosting for baby girl next weekend. :)

32 weeks | Baby 2.0

What's new?
Miss Emerson now has toenails and fingernails.
She has lots of hair by this point, which we already knew based on past ultrasounds.
She should weigh close to 4 pounds.
I'll likely continue to gain about a pound a week and half of it goes directly to baby!

How far along? 32 weeks

Baby's size? a squash - over 16.5 inches in length

Total weight gain: 25.5 pounds

Maternity clothes? Yep! Just about all of my outfits these days are maternity.

Sleep: UGH. I love being pregnant by day, I despise it at night for this exact reason. Sleeping sucks!

Best moments this past week: Honestly, I've just loved being outside. It's FINALLY cooled down enough that we're back to enjoying outside playdates and walking to our neighborhood park every evening.

Miss Anything? Sleeping on my stomach. I'm convinced that if I could just lay on my stomach, all my sleeping problems would be solved.

Movement: All.day.long.

Anything making you queasy or sick: nope

Labor Signs: I still get occasional BH contractions. I'm pretty sure Emerson moved from breech to head down last weekend based on her kicks, which my OB agreed to at my appointment this week. Let's hope she stays there! Speaking of appointments, we're down to going every 2 weeks already! I can't believe it!

Gender: girl

Symptoms: Nothing new!

Belly Button in or out? out

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: I plead the fifth - again.

Looking forward to: Taking Ellie to the pumpkin patch tomorrow, hanging out with one of my besties before these crazy newborns take over our lives, and spending some time with Ellie's nanny (that's moving to Texas in a couple weeks and we are SO heartbroken!!).

Top 10 Reasons To Have A December Baby

In my attempt at becoming a better blogger, I've started brainstorming post ideas that will begin to make their appearance, beginning with this little gem.

I'll be honest, having a December baby wasn't my first choice, but as I''ve learned, things don't always go as planned. However, since becoming pregnant I've realized a handful of REALLY great things about having a December baby.

TOP 10 REASONS TO HAVE A BABY IN
DECEMBER

10. Cute summer maternity clothing.

9. Showing off sharing a newborn baby with family over the holidays.

8. Now that I'm beginning to get really big and chasing (read: waddling) after a toddler, we're out of the summer months and into cooler weather.

7. Having one baby girl in January and another in December makes use of the same seasonal clothing we already have. Total money saver!

6.We'll have the cutest family/newborn card to send out for the holidays.
Maybe? Still debating if we plan on sending cards our early or late this year.

5. Big ol' belly for Halloween.
I foresee a lot of orange paint in my near future.

4. Plenty of time to get back into shape before bikini season.

3. Having a baby just a few weeks before the year ends? HELLO TAX DEDUCTION!

2. Three words: pumpkin pie (and) stuffing.
Ain't nobody going to judge a 9 month pregnant woman for eating her body weight on Thanksgiving.

1. I couldn't think of a better Christmas gift if I tried. We will most certainly be counting our blessings this holiday season.

31 weeks | Baby 2.0

What's new?
Miss Emerson is super active.
It literally feels (and looks) like she's doing cartwheels in there!
She's filling out. All I can think about it Ellie's chunky little rolls in the early days!
She should weigh close to 3.5 and is about to head into a major growth spurt.
Looks like we'll both be packing on the lbs!

How far along? 31 weeks (post written on Saturday)

Baby's size? a pineapple - over 16 inches in length

Total weight gain: still at 24 pounds

Maternity clothes? Yep! Just about all of my outfits these days are maternity.

Sleep: UGH. Sleeping still sucks.

Best moments this past week: My closest girlfriends surprised me with a little sprinkle last weekend. It was intimate and perfect. Thank you to one of my VERY best friends, Lauren, putting together the whole thing and to all of my girlfriends that were able to make it!! I was SO surprised and it meant more to me than you know!!

Miss Anything? SLEEP. I just want to sleep normally and through the night. :(

Movement: All.day.long.

Anything making you queasy or sick: nope

Labor Signs: I'm still getting the occasional BH contractions, but luckily they've calmed down since last week. I'm pretty sure drinking my weight in water each day has become my saving grace on this front.

Gender: girl

Symptoms: Same things, though the waves of nausea have resurfaced. Even so, I'm still loving pregnancy, minus the out of whack hormones (this is probably an understatement) and lack of sleep!

Belly Button in or out? Well.. I think it's officially "popped!"

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: I plead the fifth.

Looking forward to: I was really excited for a night out with friends and a day date with the hubs tomorrow since Ellie was going to stay at my mom's for the night. BUT, alas, she has developed a cold and isn't feeling well. So, change of plans! My mom is coming over and we're going to see Gone Girl after she's in bed. While I was looking forward to our plans, our sweet babe is our number one priority. I am RIDICULOUSLY excited to see this move though!

31 weeks

Don't mind the lack of quality this week. My camera is apparently dead and my charger was in the suitcase that was stolen on our way back from Chicago.
Looks like I'll be buying a new charger tomorrow!

30 weeks | Baby 2.0

Wait, what?? Seriously.... THIRTY WEEKS?
I can't believe we're already into the final countdown.
How the heck did that happen so fast??!!

What's new?
Miss Emerson is now strong enough to grasp a finger.
Her skin is less wrinkly and smoothing out.
Her eyesight continues to develop.
She should weigh at least 3 pounds or so.

How far along? 30 weeks

Baby's size? a large cabbage - over 15.5 inches in length

Total weight gain: 24 pounds

Maternity clothes? Yep! All my shirts are maternity these days and I think I'm just about past the point of being able to wear my regular jeans. Booo.

Sleep: UGH. Sleeping still sucks.

Best moments this past week: We had many, but our Thursday morning playdate is pretty high up there. We went to the Idea Museum and it was seriously the coolest place for kids (of all ages!). We loved it so much we bought a membership and took Daddy back today!

Miss Anything? SLEEP. I know I need to just get over it, but it's a cruel, cruel joke that pregnant women don't sleep well at the end. We're about to give up our nights entirely, the least our bodies can do for us is allow us to get some decent sleep before baby!

Movement: All.day.long.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.

Labor Signs: The BH contractions have really started picking up the last few nights in both consistency and intensity. They also woke me from my precious sleep yesterday morning. They were so bad I began timing them and honestly thought I might need to head to L&D. Thankfully they went away about 2 hours later.

Gender: Girl

Symptoms: Same old, same old. RLS, pelvic pain, peeing every .02 seconds, and apparently frequent (and painful!!!) BH contractions.

Belly Button in or out? Well.. I think it's officially "popped!"

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: This week has been a whole whirlwind of emotions!

Looking forward to: Celebrating my good girlfriend's birthday tonight and then brunch with one of my bests tomorrow!

30 weeks

note to self.. don't take pictures at night anymore
