Milestones?

...and so it begins. The lifetime full of worry and questioning I'll do as a Mother.

Throughout the first year of a baby's life (any many years to follow) there are certain developmental milestones babies should reach. The time in which babies reach each milestone will vary between babies. Some babies do things sooner than others. Some are lazy slackers.

Apparently MY baby is one of the slackers.

Ellie occasionally rolls, although not consistently.
She's laughed a handful of times, although again, not consistently.
She can sit up using her hands for support for a minute or so, although more often it's like 20-30 seconds.
She holds her head up really well during tummy time, but she isn't using her arms to hold up her upper chest.
She can't grab her feet on her own. This could be the result of her hefty thighs interfering.
Although she cheats and can crab them when sitting up.
Therefore, she's NO WHERE near getting up on all fours or crawling.
She still doesn't have a consistent eating/napping schedule.

She's barely 5 months.
Yet, many other moms I know (both in real life and via online) with babies around
this age are doing much of the above consistently. That's great, I'm happy for them.

But it makes me feel like we failed somewhere.
Why isn't Ellie doing these things yet?

Did we not give her enough tummy time early on?
Do we caudle her?
Are we holding her too often?
Is she not getting enough independent play time?
Should we be trying to push a schedule?

People tell me I shouldn't be comparing Ellie to other babies, but it's hard not to.
Why isn't she (consistently) doing these things yet and is it my fault?

...has my heart.

FIVE months

Holy craziness!!

I can't believe THIS sweet girl is 5 months old already!

She has developed quite the little personality over the past month and has become
such a fun little baby. It's so fun to watch her learn and grow each day!

Miss Ellie....

is still loving the breast milk all. day. long.
eats every 2 hours or so
loves blowing razzleberries
loves to copy us blowing razzleberries (cutest thing ever!!)
is back to sleeping in her crib for the first two stretches each night
joins us in bed around 4am every morning
loves to cuddle
grabs at our faces
sticks her fingers IN our mouths
still wakes up twice a night, occasionally more on a rough night
is definitely teething, but nothing has popped through yet!
can be in the worst mood ever, but the second that girl steps outside, she's in Heaven
is wearing 3-6 and 6 month clothing (slow down, baby girl!)
weighs almost 18 pounds
is still in size 2 diapers
would spend all day in her jumperoo if we'd let her - the girl can bounce, y'all!
enjoys tummy time
puts anything and everything in her mouth
rolls over from tummy to back randomly, but still not consistently
can b a r e l y fit into her Bumboo, but loves it nonetheless
can sit up on her own for short periods of time
(although not longer than a minute before face planting)
likes to eat listen to books
officially loves car rides, hallelujah!
is turning into quite the chunky monkey with thighs for days (see below)
smiles for all the days
(except when you put a camera in front of her!)
giggles at funny sounds, but not too often...yet

the rolls...have rolls!!!

Our Sweet Princess,
We love this mostly (you're not a fan of teething!) sweet little personality that is developing each and every day. You've become such a fun, inquisitive, and happy little girl. It's hard to believe that you're already 5 months old when it seems like just yesterday we were holding, cuddling, and kissing on you for the very first time. While we love watching each new development, we're trying to hard to savor these baby moments. They're so precious and I feel like they're being taken away right before my very eyes. You're our sweet, precious, and lovable little bean and we love you to the moon and back!!
Love, Mama and Daddy

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday, y'all!

I tried to explain to Ellie that no one likes Mondays.
As you can see, she begs to differ.

We're interviewing nannies this week.
Wish us luck!

Holiday Coordinating

I love holidays. All of them.
If it's a nationally recognized day, I love it.
If I get the day off from teaching, I love it even more.
**Disclaimer, I love teaching. But I love days off even more!

I love the food, social aspect, decorations, the hype.
All of it.

Especially coordinating my (read: our) clothes.

Here are a few pictures from Cinco de Mayo.
We went to my parents for a Mexican Fiesta dinner. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of the fiesta. But check out the cutest little baby Senorita you ever did see!

Most recently, here are a few photos of WWW (what we wore) on Memorial Day.

I already have the CUTEST little outfits for Ellie planned for the Fourth of July and Halloween.
My next goal? Find something cute for myself that can match.

Because I am that mom that likes to have matching or similar outfits.
I'm sure she'll be ecstatic to see all of these pictures someday.

Five Generations

Since I've been a horrible slacking blogger, this is coming to you late.
However, last month Ellie got the chance to meet her Great, Great Grandma!!

And they even matched! Meant to be. :)

GG-Grandma Erma is almost 101 years old!

Can you imagine??
All that she's seen. All of her experiences. The memories you're able to make in 101 years!!
I can't, but I'm sure they are absolutely wonderful.

I feel very lucky to have all the memories of Grandma that I do. Lots of fun holidays were spent in her home and she truly is the kindest, most wonderful woman.

Here are 5 generations of the Weide family!

Ellie sure is lucky to have so many loved ones near and far. Old and young.

Don't forget to vote! :)

Father's Day Recap

We had a wonderful first Father's Day with our favorite.

We made him a Daddy Survival Kit.

It consisted of all sorts of things: diaper and wipes, baby toys, Advil, a 5 hour energy drink, backup clothes for him and the Bean, candy (sugar), a baby free night out coupon, and a few other things. Our favorite was this adorable little keychain, which says,
"I found my Prince and his name is Daddy."

He loved it!

We went to my in-laws for a delicious BBQ sandwich style lunch. How cute is this table setup?

Daddy, Ellie, and Great-Grandma Anne patiently waiting for lunch.

Then we went to my parents for another BBQ dinner.

We are SO lucky to call you ours.
